Photo Biz Boot Camp
The BBC is an intense, intimate two-day business photography class designed to help you:
- build your business based on a strong financial foundation,
- enforce business health and profitability,
- and create a better work/life balance.
We believe that change happens in baby-steps and in small group environments; therefore, each BBC class is comprised of an average of 8-10 studios at a time! You will truly have an opportunity to work on what your business needs the most, unlike other photography workshops where you simply learn what works for the instructors. Since everything stems from understanding your goals and values, and creating a financial snapshot of your business as the foundation to make decisions off of, we are including the Profit Center DVD as a prerequisite for all participants.

We currently do not have any classes scheduled for 2012. Liana is taking time off from teaching private classes for a while as they welcome baby Atticus in late March 2012! Please email us if you are interested in attending a class in the future and we will keep you posted on future dates!

How it Works
The Business Boot Camp (BBC) is an intense, intimate two-day experience designed to help you take your photography business to the next level, enforce business health and profitability, and create a better work/life balance.
We believe that change happens in baby-steps and in small group environments; therefore, each BBC is comprised of no more than eight studios at a time. You will truly have an opportunity to work on what your business needs the most. Since everything stems from understanding your goals and values, and creating a financial snapshot of your business as the foundation to make decisions off of, we are including the Profit Center DVD as a prerequisite for all participants.
Expect to come prepared with a lot of hard work and thought put in beforehand. We will start by reviewing what you’ve learned/applied through the Profit Center DVD lessons and go through an analysis of your business based on the numbers. On the first day, we will look at your goals and make a plan for our time together based on what is needed the most. We will likely cover a variety of topics including but not limited to some of the following: pricing, packages, merchandising, sales, branding, marketing, workflow, communications, office management, taking better photos straight out of the camera, and customer service.
The format of the class is a small-group discussion environment so you can expect to actively particpate and take your turn in sharing, brainstorming/working, listening, and observing. You will not be bored to tears with two days of lectures and presentations. The two days will be intense but will fly by!
P.S. You’ll have HOMEWORK each night so plan on getting plenty of zzzzzzzs ahead of time, clear your schedules, and leave client work alone for the 72 hours!!
Between now and then…
Once you sign up, you will receive your DVDs and access to the forum. It is each attendee’s responsibility to book travel arrangements if necessary and our hosts are happy to help you with hotel and travel recommendations. Please contact the host directly and/or email us if you need assistance making arrangements. We will not be sending out emails or reminders until the week before Boot Camp so PLEASE remember to clear and mark your calendar for your Boot Camp dates, and give yourselves plenty of time to do the pre-work.

Before You Attend
Within a few days of registering, you will receive an email giving you details on how to log on to the Profit Center and BBC sections of the PhotoBizBootCamp/Forum. We will also mail you a copy of the Profit Center DVD. Please take the time to view and complete all ten lessons from the Profit Center DVD before you attend the BBC. This will allow you to get the most out of your time at the BBC.
10am to 8pm-ish including group lunch & dinner. Review Profit Center process, numbers, analysis and planning. Work on pricing, packages, merchandising, and sales.
8 or 9 am to 8pm including group lunch & dinner. Work on whatever needs attention (diagnosed in Day 1) including but not limited to: branding, marketing, workflow, communications, office management, taking better photos straight out of the camera and customer service.
Day 3: BONUS SESSION!
We will officially wrap up the BBC at the conclusion of Day 2, but anyone who is interested is welcome to participate in our Bonus Session. Sometimes we’ll do more biz-stuff on day 3 if everyone stays. We usually start at 9:30am and shoot through lunch. Many fly out that evening so they’re not rushed.
After You Attend
We will come up with a plan of action for you to follow during the BBC and hope you will take the time out to work towards these goals and further apply what we discussed to your own business. We encourage you to keep in touch with fellow participants via the forum as well. Consultations are also available as an add-on.
What is Included
An investment of $899 ($999 outside Atlanta) includes course materials, Profit Center DVD, and lunch and dinner on the first two days. A $499 non-refundable retainer is due to reserve your spot. Bonus photoshoot session on Day 3 is complimentary. We want to make it easy for you to make the BBC work for you …so it’s only 1/2 to register, the other half due during class
Investment is non-refundable but transferable to another individual or class for a $90 transfer fee. If you find out another date/location works better for you let us know up to 90 days before your class and we’ll transfer you free of charge. If it’s within 90 days the transfer fee does apply. We will do our best to provide healthy, yummy meal options but expect a variety of typical grub and perhaps some local fare. For example: soup/sandwiches/salads for lunch, a variety of snacks & beverage throughout the day, and a yummy dinner. If you have any unusual dietary restrictions, you may want to bring some of your own stuff and/or cash to order in something special. We will likely work/talk through our meals to make the most of our time, and perhaps dine out on one of the evenings.
What to Bring
A smile, notebook and pen, laptop computer (if you have one–it sure does help!), all of the worksheets you completed in the Profit Center lessons, all of your numbers printed out (Personal Salary Budget, Sessions & Sales Sheets, Expense Budget, Income/Expense statement, optional Cash Flow statements, Break-Even Analysis), price sheets, and any existing marketing materials/small samples.
If you are staying for the Bonus Session on Day 3, bring your camera body and a few lenses. We’ll be taking pictures of EACH OTHER to get those fab updated bio pics!!! (So bring some awesome outfits you love too!) You will not need ALL of your equipment – we’re all about making the most out of what you’ve got! Having the laptop with photoshop installed will also help during this session.
